Description

Designed by VFX supervisor Brian Johnson and represented by miniatures of varying sizes for filming, the iconic ship is as popular today as it was back then. MPC presents a Limited Re-Issue of the 22” model kit with details gleaned from the original miniature used during the production of Space:1999. Following up its big 1/48 scale Space: 1999 Eagle transporter released in 2015, MPC has scaled the ship to 1/72 scale which makes it about 14 inches long. You have the option of building the stun gun as a season 1 version with the flat top or a season 2 version with two different versions of the stun/kill switch.

For the Ultra Probe, the neck behind the command module is far too long, the front tank cylinders behind are far too short, and the framework spine has obvious distortion. A second model, Eagle w/Lab Pod, is a version of the Eagle with a lab pod (as seen in The Metamorph); this first came out in 2003.

Eye-popping Packaging: The striking packaging graphics make a great display when placed right next to your finished model.

The Eagle nose cone is a cast of the third Eagle model, and the side pods and passenger pod cast from David Sisson's replica. By early 2009, the Eagle model improved in accuracy, with feet, fairly detailed leg pods and rear engines, but a weirdly spherical command module.

You can vary the height depending on the length of the plastic tube from approx 4 inches to 6 inches (100mm to 150mm). Parts are provided in off-white, gray and clear, and the kit includes all necessary marking decals so it can be built without the need for paint if desired.

The decals wanted to stick quickly, so I added a few drops of water to the surface before sliding the marking from the backing paper. I think I would feel much more comfortable masking and painting the panelling on a larger model, I may need to do a larger Eagle at some point and I'd have a bit more confidence with it having done this one. There are also blueprints reproduced from the Moonbase Alpha Technical Notebook and a short merchandise guide.Very neat and considering how much weathering you did in the build thread it looks remarkably clean Then again I do tend to dirty up my Eagles quite a bit. The true origin of the Space:1999 Hawk starship is a bit of a mystery, but it was fully intended to be a formidable weapon. MPC builds onto its lineup of 14” Eagles by adding the popular “laboratory pod” along with the powerful spine booster. MPC gives you three painting options for the Eagle: a plain white transport, a red-and-white striped rescue module, and the orange VIP transport I built.
