I have no idea what I want to be doing with my life, no idea what my purpose is, and no real sign of a life goal. Hannah’s best friend is Black, and there is a cringe moment where Hannah asks her in a flashback if her new college friend is a closer friend because she’s Black too. At the end of the night, Hannah must choose; to go home with Ethan and potentially pick up where they left off or go home with Gabby, her best friend and favourite person in the world. She heads back to her hometown of Los Angeles, meets up with her best friend Gabby, and then finds herself in a bar and facing her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

I cannot believe I started this book twice last year and didn't finish it up either time but, damn well, I am so glad to have read this book today! Hannah also constantly says this with sentences like, “Embracing the life you have,” “We can’t choose what happens in our life,” or “You never know what you’re ready for until you have to face it,” which was so interesting, and I guess ironic (I don’t remember a lot of literary devices I learnt in high school)because she says that in both realties. Enjoy this exploration of mother/daughter issues mixed with a send-up to campy 1980s slasher movies. When I hug her, I remember how odd it is to hug someone so much smaller than I am, how different the two of us seem at first glance. At its simplest, it’s that romantic love and friend love are not the same thing, and I’m not in romantic love with them.Despite Hannah having a romantic interest in both outcomes, her friendship with Gabby was so beautiful and wonderfully showcased. I have purchased three of TJR’s contemporary fiction modern romance novels in the hope of reading them in between my review book obligations. Her bestie Gabby's family took her in during her earlier years while Hannah's own family was abroad, and Hannah has been fumbling her way through adulthood, not knowing which way to turn. This beautifully rendered story explores the brilliance and rarity of finding true love, and how to find our way back through the painful aftermath of losing it. One storyline follows Hannah going home with her friends, and the other is after she decides to stay with Ethan.

A related moment that made me cringe, is when Hannah and Gabby lay in a bed together and just wish they weren’t straight so they could just simplify their lives and remove all men and just be together tee-hee! Without entering the realm of 'spoilers', all I will say is listen carefully throughout, in the certain knowledge that at no point has the recording gone wrong at all. We use Google Analytics to see what pages are most visited, and where in the world visitors are visiting from. I have to think that the small ones don’t matter, that I’ll end up where I need to end up no matter what I do. Reid makes you think about love and destiny and then shows you the what could have been ; I loved every word.side note: i read this as an ebook and there were a lot of formatting issues with it, which lead to confusing transitions between the two variations of hannahs life. Those were the same times I wished she didn't have a family to back her up in both universes, because despite the problems, she always seemed to have it too easy. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. So if you re not a sucker for fate/choices stuff and want a book that excites you, you better not read this one.

I had not read a review of the book, had no idea what I was to read so was left wondering from the start if the recording was faulty. Her family moved to London while she was in high school because of her sister’s acceptance to a ballet school, so all Hannah has had was her best friend and best friend’s family. So I said, “You know, Gabby, even if he is married, that doesn’t mean I’m not better for him than this other person. The girl whose apartment I was subletting gave me two weeks’ notice that she needed the apartment back.

Without spoilers, there are three hugely impactful aspects of a person’s life – whether or not they partner, if they do with whom, and what their career is. The underlying theme that can be found in all three is that the choices we make ALL have consequences: some positive, some negative, and the most important aspect of that is that we take ownership of them.
