Not a perfume that would ever be my signature or that I would even like to wear in public but something I like to spend time on my own with, in private, thinking about the past.

I remember this perfume in very fond way as this is kind of fragrance that makes one willing to embrace oneself as one is. The small golden, circular label on the bottom of the bottle says: 90 (or 90%) and looks exactly as the one picutured here on Fragrantica. Because that's how people around you perceive it at arm's length - a happy, joyful and elegant scent of carefree southern summer. But the scent keeps ebbing away; within three hours I can barely smell anything even with my nose touching my wrist.About ten minutes after that, it is briefly followed by ylang-ylang, a stage that evokes Chanel 5 for me. A visionary fashion designer, Jean Patou invented the monogram, slipping his initials onto jersey swimwear, marked them with the "JP" of the house.

Again, similar to the original but muskier, and the aldehydes, green notes and florals are softened slightly. after the initial vinegary animalistic civet aroma dies down, a beautiful bouquet of flowers emerged, perfect for just lounging on your chaise lounge in an evening gown. This fragrance isn't something to play around with, if sprayed to harshly then you will definitely regret it. Joy" has remained a reference fragrance, one of the great commercial successes of the perfume industry.

It's a pleasure to wear for that beautiful development alone, although I have to admit I am partial especially to the opening. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. I won't bother spelling out the Fragrantica taboo but THIS IS ONE OF THOSE you know exactly what I mean haha.

I mainly sensed lily of the valley off the bat, but once it began to wear down I got a green fresh grassiness, e. But I’m glad I didn’t put any effort into finding a vintage version—the modern formulation really didn’t seem noticeably different to me. I can smell a lil creaminess of sandalwood in the drydown, but i’m not sure if the musk is really there. This was the signature perfume for Vivien Leigh and Jackie Kennedy wore this one often and it was said to be one of her favorites. It evokes a spent beauty, in the dry down, on some days and it's not doing it for you, rather just because it's Joy, after all. I suppose you never know where you'll to find the big 'Rosebud' moments in your memory, and I never thought the bottle of Joy would sweep me up and carry me away. I believe it a responsibility to support independent businesses that do their job well, and I failed to fulfill said responsibility. Jean Patou was acquired in 2018 by the LVMH group - which signed a strategic agreement with Designer Parfums to take over the clothing division. Of course, for a scent that expensive, I’ll never use it with abandon, it’s just not in my DNA, like I wouldn’t wear my dress shoes to do laundry, even if I knew I wouldn’t spill bleach on them, even if it would be same long-run cost as going nuts with the cheapers.
