When you look further than the stupid title and the way this is about fae courts you’ve probably read about 300 times before, it’s filled with lots of unique aspects. I hope that next book will be available as an audiobook because I'm invested in this story very much.

Lisette Marshall has delivered a powerful start to the Fae Isles series, a wonderfully intense fantasy story with magic, intrigue, politics, all sorts of supernatural beings, and an absolutely kickass lead couple (brave and feisty heroine, a broody, almost-anti-hero with secrets), enemies-to-lovers, fake-romance, and so much chemistry and sexual tension, I almost couldn’t stand it. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat. The whole book is written from Emelin’s POV, so we get to experience everything with her – learning about the world and figuring out her place in it. He decides to spare the humans and takes Em with him to the Fae Isles, where he introduces her to his mother (the Fae queen known as the Mother) as a human who “amuses him”. Note: Court of Blood and Bindings contains a generous dose of smouldering glances, angry yearning, and midnight meetings of the illicit type, as well as other mature themes.New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter. There's so much interesting history of the fae and humans and I could honestly picture bits of the history as Emelin learned about it! There's a reason We Are Legion was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! The Greatest Secret, the long-awaited major work by Rhonda Byrne, lays out the next quantum leap in a journey that will take the listener beyond the material world and into the spiritual realm, where all possibilities exist.

That being said, if you haven’t read this series yet, the very beginning of both books takes a brief minute before you get into it. Living in a human settlement desperate to break free from fae rule, Emelin has been forced to hide her magic her whole life. Un datito curioso, la autora no es americana es europea y se nota en su forma de escribir, algunos giros idiomáticos y particularmente se ve la diferencia en las escenas smut y la ironía en los chistes. Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original.I dare say I loved it 🖤 such an interesting magic system, good plot, good character development and visible growth. Alongside the love story, Creon and Emelin are in a dangerous situation, facing many enemies, and if anyone uncovers their plan it will mean instant death for both of them. I can’t wait to explore more of the world and magic because I feel like I was given enough info to continue, but definitely need more to be satisfied. Do you feel weighed down by stress and pressure, held back by judgement and lack of opportunity, and critcised by everyone – including yourself?

They pretend to be in a sexual relationship, but they soon find themselves really falling for each other. We all know I have a soft spot for fantasy romance by now, especially if it involves fae, so I might be biased. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It doesn’t take long for us to see a different side of him, firstly in sparing Emelin, and then when he sets her up in his home and she starts to snark at him, and he snarks right back. Probably why she was so annoying was because the MMC wasn’t fully balancing her out and drawing attention away from her neurosis and budding hero complex.

This novel is described on Goodreads as a “steamy assassin fantasy romance” with enemies-to-lovers and grumpy/sunshine tropes. This isn’t even the first book that’s followed a similar format, it’s just one of the few I’ve overlooked in favour of curiosity. Finally, he was protector, but not an overbearing alpha kind of guy (not enough for my taste to be honest), he just want to support her. Neither of them act on it as Creon teaches Emelin about his world and they begin her training, but it’s always there. It had a promising premise, but the tedious writing and poor execution made it impossible for me to become engaged in the story or care about the characters despite my best efforts.

Court of Blood and Bindings is an adventure tale with lots of romantic tension (quite some spice too), snarky characters and witty banter, and great characters overall. The story starts in Cathra, a human island that has recently installed an iron ward and believes itself to be freed of the Fae dominion. The chemistry is electric and the sexual tension is off freaking charts, and the feelings are right there alongside of the mad lust, which makes the whole thing even more intense.
